Privacy Policy
Last updated: February 2026
1. Overview
JustRead.Fun ("we", "us", "our") is a language learning reader that lets you paste text and learn vocabulary. This policy explains how we handle your data.
2. Data We Collect
Without an account (guest usage)
- All data (texts, vocabulary, preferences) is stored in your browser's localStorage.
- We do not collect, transmit, or store any of this data on our servers.
- Dictionary lookups are proxied through our server to Google Translate — we do not log these requests.
With an account
- Account information: name, email address, and (if using Google sign-in) profile picture.
- Synced data: saved texts, vocabulary statuses, and reading progress are stored in our database so you can access them across devices.
- Passwords: if you sign up with email/password, your password is hashed using bcrypt and never stored in plain text.
3. How We Use Your Data
- To provide the language learning service and sync your data across devices.
- To authenticate you when you sign in.
- We do not sell, share, or use your data for advertising.
4. Third-Party Services
- Google OAuth: if you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email, and profile picture from Google. See Google's Privacy Policy.
- Google Translate: we use Google Translate for dictionary lookups. The words you look up are sent to Google's translation API.
5. Data Retention & Deletion
- Guest data lives in your browser and is deleted when you clear your browser data.
- Account data is retained until you delete your account. You can delete your account from your profile page — this permanently removes all your data from our servers.
6. Cookies
We use essential cookies only — a session cookie for authentication. We do not use tracking cookies or analytics.
7. Your Rights
You can export your data from the Saved Texts page, change your password from your profile, or delete your account at any time. If you have questions, contact us at the address below.
